The Scanning Stage

• The scanning stage should be a flat, featureless surface large enough that there is plenty of “margin” around the target object, but not so large that you can’t walk around it comfortably.
• Place object on a scanning stand (small box, 3D printed stand, small sandbag for irregular objects, etc.)
• Object should come close to or fully overlap the scanning stand’s edges
• Avoid placing directly on the stage. It’ll work, but the post processing is messier.

Safety

• Wear 450nm laser safety goggles
• Don’t stare at the pretty flashing lights directly

Room Lighting

• Bright enough that you can clearly see through the rather dark safety glasses
• Not so bright that the screen is washed out
