The scanning stage should be a flat, featureless surface large enough that there is plenty of “margin” around the target object, but not so large that you can’t walk around it comfortably.
Place object on a scanning stand (small box, 3D printed stand, small sandbag for irregular objects, etc.)
Object should come close to or fully overlap the scanning stand’s edges
Avoid placing directly on the stage. It’ll work, but the post processing is messier.
Safety
Wear 450nm laser safety goggles
Don’t stare at the pretty flashing lights directly
Room Lighting
Bright enough that you can clearly see through the rather dark safety glasses
